A movie filmed right here in Louisiana is continuing to gain Oscar buzz and critical acclaim despite poor ticket sales as award season approaches.

The movie in question is Green Book starring Viggo MortensenMahershala Ali and Linda Cardellini. The film is set in the south in the 1960's and features a working class Italian who becomes a driver for an African American pianist. The majority of the picture was filmed in New Orleans and southeast Louisiana. 

Yesterday, the National Board of Review named the film as best movie. Mortensen also won for best actor. The winners will be honored at the NBR Awards Gala Tuesday, January 8, 2019. Green Book was also the people's choice/audience award winner earlier this year at the Toronto International Film Festival as well as the New Orleans Film Festival, Austin Film Festival and more!

According to the Louisiana Economic Development website, other projects that are currently out that filmed in Louisiana include: A Violent Separation, Eli, NCIS New Orleans Season 4, Queen Sugar: Season 1, Claws Season 2, HIghwaymen, Out of the Blue, Shadows Season 1, Cut Throat City, Manuscript, Preacher Season 3 and The First.

Green Book is showing locally at Cinemark Tinseltown in Shreveport.

The 91st Academy Awards (Oscars) are coming up Sunday, February 24, 2019 and the telecast will air on ABC. Nominations will be announced Tuesday, January 22, 2019.
