Youngsters from Westwood Elementary helped the City of Shreveport gear up for Paint Your Heart Out with a special performance.

Nearly 1500 homes across our community have been painted and spruced up by volunteers with Paint Your Heart Out Shreveport over the past 25 years.

This Saturday, several more homes will be getting a face lift.

The Community Development Department puts in several hours to bring this event to some of Shreveport's most economically disadvantaged neighborhoods. Several corporate sponsors step up to pay for all of the supplies.

This year, several Barksdale Airmen will be fanning out with volunteers to paint houses.

It's not too late to volunteer. If you'd like to lend a hand, call at 318-673-7528 to get involved. More than 1,000 volunteers are expected to participate this year. Many of these have formed teams with co-workers, charity groups, neighbors, churches and friends to get together and make a difference in the lives of local residents who don't have the means to paint their homes.
