Watch Phillip Phillips Perform ‘Home’ at the MLB All-Star Game
Phillip Phillips made another post-surgery public appearance on Tuesday (July 10) night when he performed ‘Home’ at the 83rd Major League Baseball All-Star Game.
The event was held at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City, Mo. where the ‘American Idol‘ winner took the stage before the game. The 21-year-old musician dedicated his debut single to local tornado victims.
After his performance, Phillips tweeted, “Wow that was awesome!” He also showed his support for the National League. “National!!!!!!!!!” he added. “Chipper is the man! He was my favorite ball player when i played.”
Phillips is currently on the ‘American Idols Live’ tour, which kicked off in Detroit on July 6. He looked healthy on stage at the All-Star Game following the complicated surgery he endured last month to remove kidney stones. Luke Bryan was also on hand to sang the national anthem, while Kellie Pickler performed ‘God Bless America’ during the 7th inning stretch.
‘Home’ has become a hit, earning the biggest sales debut for an ‘Idol’ coronation song. “It’s so exciting to see the fan reaction to “Home,” Phillips said in a press release. “It’s been overwhelming and I’m just so thankful to everyone who has supported me throughout this entire process. I truly realize how blessed I am. I can’t wait to get out on the tour, jam live for everyone and put out an album.”
