Benjamin Raymond, a Shreveport Police Corporal had the highest score on the test with a 95. Shreveport Police Sargeant Tedris Smith had the lowest score at 75. Interim Chief Alan Crump scored a 77.

Mayor Tyler appointed Alan Crump as Interim Chief to replace Chief Willie Shaw who retired July 31. Crump was appointed for 90 days to lead the department during the search process. His time will be extended through a reappointment for another 90 days to allow the selection process to take place.

“In an effort to ensure the best person is chosen, I do not want to rush through this process,” said Mayor Tyler. “I’m hoping to get the process underway real soon because this appointment is critical in ensuring the safety and well-being of our citizens and visitors.”

Mayor Tyler will conduct an initial screening with each of the qualified applicants. From those screenings she will identify the finalists for the position. Each finalist will have a thorough interview. Mayor Tyler hopes to have a new chief in place by the end of the year.
