Shreveport Police detectives are searching for clues into the shooting death of a man that happened Friday evening outside a west Shreveport residence.

Shortly after 8:00 p.m. on February 24, 2017, Shreveport Police were called to a home located in the 100 block of West 77th Street responding to a report of a person being shot. When officers arrived on the scene, they discovered the victim, 50-year-old Curtis Monroe, suffering a gunshot wound to the neck. Monroe was transported from the scene of the crime via ambulance, to University Health hospital, where he later died.

Cpl Marcus Hines, spokesman for the Shreveport Police Department, tells us what detectives have pieced together so far:

Detectives with the Shreveport Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit were notified of the shooting and responded to the scene along with Crime Scene investigators. Based on preliminary findings, it is believed Monroe was present outside a residence in the block, when witnesses reported hearing at least two gunshots. [M]oments later, Monroe’s body would be located outside the home by residents... Police have not made any arrests in connection with the killing but remain steadfast in their efforts to identify and arrest the person responsible for the crime.
