UPDATE: Police Involved in Stand-off With Armed Man

UPDATE 2:  Police have identified the suspect as 45-year-old Gregory Lynn of Shreveport. They believe he was under the influence of some type of drug at the time the stand-off occurred. Toxicology test results are pending, as are any possible charges against Lynn.

UPDATE: The stand-off is over and the suspect is in custody. The area is now secure, and EMS has been called in for the man.

ORIGINAL STORY:  More than two dozen Shreveport police units, along with the bomb squad, are on the scene of a stand-off on Line Avenue.

Police Corporal Marcus Hines told KEEL News at around 5 a.m., dispatch got a call about an armed man who walked into the Center for Behavioral Health in the 1300 block of Line Avenue.

Reports are that the man was dressed in camo fatigues and carrying an AR-15 assault rifle. Authorities believe he's a former or current patient of the business.

All indications are that the employees got out safely and are accounted for. Hines said police think the man is inside alone.

Meantime, the Diocesan Superintendent of Schools Carol Shively has issued the following statement about the stand-off, which is going on near both Loyola College Prep and St. John's Cathedral School:

"Both Loyola and St. John's have active policies for this type of situation that involve sheltering in place and taking all measures needed to protect the students in our care. We have full confidence in the authorities to handle this situation, but will continue to take special measures until this conflict is resolved."
