The hotel's staff noticed something odd about a package mailed to the guest, so they called the Bossier City Police Department. Agents with the Bossier Combined Narcotics Task Force brought in a drug-sniffing K-9, which alerted on the package.

The recipient, 28-year-old Davio Sawtelle, who's originally from California and living in Alexandria, gave consent for agents to search the package. Inside, they found more than 7.5 pounds of marijuana that had been mailed to Sawtelle from California.

Sawtelle was arrested for possessing with intent to distribute marijuana and possessing drug paraphernalia. He was booked into the Bossier Maximum Security Facility.

"I commend the hotel staff at DiamondJacks for taking appropriate actions when they noticed something odd about the package and contacted law enforcement," said Bossier Parish Sheriff Julian Whittington in a news release. "This sends a clear message to criminals that we take a very serious approach to illegal drug activity here in Bossier Parish. It simply won't be tolerated."
