Louisiana Film Prize Festival is October 9 through 12. Here's a closer look at one of the Top 20 films, "Snip."
"Snip" is a comedy directed by Eric Rippetoe. We asked Eric a few questions about his short film.

What is your film about?

Snip starts out with Parker recovering from a life changing event. After a few drinks and some convincing, he decides a vasectomy is the only way to fix things.  To appease the doctor’s strict requirements, he gets help from an old friend and has some unexpected fun along the way.

What kind of message are you trying to get across in your film?

The only message I’m trying to get across with Snip is that you should be able to laugh at everything in life.

Where in Northwest Louisiana did you film?

Our filming took place in Shreveport at a few random businesses, a few homes of crew members and friends, and a city-park in Bossier City.

What were your impressions about Northwest Louisiana, specifically the Shreveport-Bossier area?

We loved the area.  It provided plenty of options and the people here are amazing.

Would you film in this area again?

Yes.  We’re already planning for next year’s short film!

$50,000 is on the line! What do you plan on doing with the money if you win?

Being first time filmmakers with no experience, the only reason we made it into the Top 20 is because of the cast and crew.  Our first step would be to spread a little of the wealth.  After that, we’ll be saving money to work on more films in the future.

Why should someone vote for your film?

Snip was put together by all NWLA people.  Our cast and crew was made up of a few industry professionals and some friends and family.  Our main goal was to make a film that people that will make people laugh and leave the theater with a good feeling.
