It is the end of an era, Pauline Phillips, otherwise known to most of us as "Dear Abby" passed away yesterday at the age of 94. She had given advice to thousands (if not more) and over 100 million readers since 1956.

Pauline had been battling Alzheimer's disease for quite some time, but the Dear Abby column has carried on with Pauline's daughter, Jeanne. "My mother leaves very big high heels to fill with a legacy of compassion, commitment and positive social change. I will honor her memory every day by continuing this legacy.", said Jeanne.

Many will recall, that Pauline's twin sister was advice columnist Ann Landers (Eppie Lederer), who passed away in 2002 at the age of 83.

So how did Pauline become Dear Abby? She took the first name of her favorite biblical figure Abigail and the last name of the former President Martin Van Buren. Something for the trivia books.

Even though your daughter has carried on your legacy, the real Dear Abby's "uncommon common sense and youthful perspective" will be missed in this world that we live in.
