One of the co-founding members of the Bee Gees, Robin Gibb, has passed away at the age of 62. Over the past few years Robin had been battling liver and colon cancer and most recently fell into a coma. He unexpectedly awoke from the coma about 3 weeks ago, but just as things had seemed to be looking up, this afternoon, Robin Gibb lost his battle with cancer.

Sadly the Bee Gees also lost another brother and co-founding member of the group in 2003, when Maurice Gibb passed away from a twisted intestine.

The story of Robin Gibb seemed like a quiet story, as he seemed to be the quiet one. Yet, throughout the Bee Gees early career in the late 1960s and early 1970s, there was much animosity between Robin and his bother, Barry, for who would have the current single to be taken to radio. During this period of time, Robin's drinking had taken him on a very dangerous course and the Gibb's father asked the courts for Robin to become a ward of the state, until he was clean and sober.

After Robin's rebellious period ended, the Bee Gees returned to the Pop music scene with what would become a massive string of hits that ushered in the Disco era, which began with "Jive Talkin" to the entire soundtrack for the movie "Saturday Night Fever".

Even after the group's star began to lose its shine, the brothers' Gibb would continue to write massive hits for Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton with "Islands In The Stream" and the song "Heartbreaker" for Dionne Warwick.

To relive some of the best moments for the Bee Gees, take a look below.

The last song that was released by Robin and his son, RJ Gibb was a tribute to the Titanic called "Don't Cry Alone", a fitting epitaph for a great song writer and singer of many songs we will be singing for ages to come.

Goodbye Robin, your music has brought much joy to many of us through talents.
