I don't think anyone has missed the fact that our area was slammed when it came to the recent flood waters and all we can say is thank goodness for all of the fine folks who have dug deep and either gave money or time to help their friends and neighbors.

The American Red Cross has been the main source of support for flood victims in our area and they're taking their humanitarian services to the areas directly affected by the flood waters today in Bossier Parish, where they'll be concentrating mostly on the south Bossier and Haughton areas.

They will then take their efforts to Caddo Parish tomorrow, Friday, April 1, 2016 where they'll be in and around Shreveport, Greenwood, Keithville, Oil City and Mooringsport.

Saturday, April 2, 2016 will bring the Red Cross to Bienville Parish and specifically the neighborhoods around Ringgold and Castor. On Monday, April 4, 2016 they'll hit the road again in Webster Parish around the areas of Doyline, Sibley and Heflin. Clearly, extenuating weather situations might delay their plans.

If your home was affected by the recent flood waters, the Red Cross is asking you keep an eye out for their caseworkers the day they're in your area as they're trying to get to and serve as many people as possible. If you miss them, they'll make sure to leave you information regarding meeting with a Red Cross caseworker.

Our hearts continue to go out to all of those affected by these floods. And to those who were on high ground, we urge you to either volunteer your time or your money by visiting RedCross.org. According to the Red Cross, 90% of their work is provided by volunteers and with an estimated 2,700 homes in our area being damaged, you can tell the need for helping hands is high!
