Republicans Hold Strong Message on No Taxes

House Republicans are holding firm on no new taxes. State Representative Lance Harris released a video on social media, pushing a plan to reduce spending.

“Despite what some may say, you can’t spend your way out of debt,” said Representative Harris. He also questioned the amount of the deficit as reported by the Governor.

In a report in the Hayride, Harris says Louisiana does not have a billion-dollar budget deficit.  The Republicans also say the Governor has been on a non-stop Chicken Little tour, citing the high deficit numbers.

Lawmakers could not come to terms on any plan to reduce the fiscal cliff during the special session and they are expected to go into another special session at the end of the current regular session.
