I stopped by a friend's home in Les Maisons subdivision in Southeast Shreveport to see how they are faring in the aftermath of the flood.

The water has gone down, but it's left quite a mess behind. There's mud on the road leading up to these beautiful homes and you'll find some standing water in the side yards. Today's rain didn't help. There is still much work to be done. Thousands of sandbags have to be removed from the homes. The city is expected to send crews to reclaim the sandbags.

Another problem facing these folks has to do with filing insurance claims. They have been told insurance won't pay for any of the items they had to buy or rent to keep the water out of their homes. It will only pay for damage to the home! One adjuster even told them it would have been better for them to just "let the house flood"! Seriously? How crazy does that sound?
