The nominees are Bon Jovi, Kate Bush, The Cars, Depeche Mode, Dire Straits, Eurythmics, J. Geils Band, Judas Priest, LL Cool J, MC5, The Meters, Moody Blues, Radiohead, Rage Against the Machine, Rufus featuring Chaka Khan, Nina Simone, Sister Rosetta Tharpe, Link Wray and The Zombies.

Nine of the 19 nominees are nominated for the first time, including Eurythmics, Dire Straits, Judas Priest, Kate Bush, The Moody Blues, Nina Simone, Radiohead, Rage Against the Machine and Sister Rosetta Tharpe.

According to an official press release from the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, to be eligible, the artist/band must have released "its first commercial recording at least 25 years prior to the year of induction" (in this case, prior to 1992).

Final inductees will be announced in December. The ceremony will be broadcast on HBO.

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Inductions will be held at the Public Auditorium in Cleveland, Ohio on April 14, 2018.
