Dome Field Advantage is a real thing. The noise in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome has become legendary, and the upcoming NFC Championship game versus the Rams will be no different.

There's no doubt that the cheering from fans during the divisional round of the playoffs against the Eagles played a positive part for the Saints. And Sean Payton is well aware of it.

It's definitely safe to assume that the crowd could be even louder for the NFC Championship game, but Payton has a request for fans.

I think what's important for our fan base is understanding when that crowd noise needs to begin differently this week than normal weeks. That crowd noise needs to begin prior to 15 seconds left (on the play clock). That crowd needs to begin just as that last play finished. Look, you get 65-70 snaps of that crowd noise, earlier than normal and louder than normal, it's difficult.

So, why is he asking fans to change their cheering habits just for the Rams? It's because of the way they run their offense. They actually take crowd noise into account.

They'll come out the huddle quickly and snap the ball. They do a good job of trying to counter that (crowd noise) with tempo, or change of tempo.

If you're planning on attending the game on Sunday, it's definitely worth noting what Payton is asking. Do it for the Saints. Do it for Louisiana. Do it for all of us!

The NFC Championship game with the Saints taking on the Rams will be played in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome this Sunday (Jan. 20) at 2:05 pm.
