As lawmakers prepare to wrap up this legislative session, Senators have unveiled their $29 billion operating budget for next year. This plan has fewer cuts than members of the the House have called for.

This plan will keep TOPS at full funding. But the Senate plan does spend more on health services, prisons, colleges and veterans programs.

House members have proposed holding on to more than $200 million in case revenues are off. But Senators want to spend $80 million of that money to fill gaps in this years budget.

The Senate Finance Committee backed the budget plan without objection Thursday. Lawmakers have until June 8 to reach a deal before the session ends.
