Ever since I was little my mother has tried her best to get my hands on a sewing machine. The truth is I am just not good at it. I try my best, but everything I sew comes out with holes in the seams or has lopsided edges. That is why I have always stuck with cross stitching or crocheting.

Nonetheless, I wish there was a local shop where I grew up that offered classes on sewing like the one in Shreveport. According to their event page on Facebook, the Sewing Shop is hosting a sewing class for kids.

The class will be held on Saturday from 10 am to 12 pm for children ages 8 and up. There they will learn basic sewing skills like how to thread a machine, sew seams, and work with kits provided in the class. You have the option to bring your own machine or use one at the shop.
