Only in California would child molesters and sex offenders go to court so they could have the ability to hand out Halloween candy.

As it is now, sex offenders have to put out a sign in front of their house that says "No candy or treats at this residence," they are not allowed to have Halloween decorations, have a lit front porch or answering the door after dark on Oct. 31st.

While most parents (and even non-parents) find this reasonable and a good idea, over 12,500 sex offenders are getting their day in court in Simi Valley, CA, so they can overturn an ordinance that was adopted on September 10th, because the offenders feel their rights are being violated, as an "egregious violation of the U.S. Constitution."

From Wikipedia:.
Rights are legal, social, or ethical principles of freedom or entitlement; that is, rights are the fundamental normative rules about what is allowed of people or owed to people, according to some legal system, social convention, or ethical theory.

Nope, I don't see where handing out  Tootsie Rolls and Butterfingers is a Right.

Anyone with an internet connection can find out where sex offenders live in California through Megan's Law Website, and it is used quite often. I used it over the 6 years that I lived there. I didn't have kids there in my first 5 years, but I still didn't want to live somewhere that would prevent my friend's from bringing their family over.

So what are the sex offenders presenting as evidence to allow them the ability to hand out candy? There are no sex offenses that have been reported on Halloween.  That's it.  Nothing has happened, yet.

As it stands, if these offenders violate the law, they will get slapped with a $1,000 and up to 6 months in jail.  Since California got rid of the 3-strikes law, recidivism should be at an all time high, since there are no real punishments.

Remember this: any bad idea that has ever been thought of, most likely came from California. If this is ratified by the courts in California, that would prove my statement correct.
