I was born near here, actually, in the little east Texas town of Palestine. My Dad was in sales, so before moving to Shreveport when I was in high school (Jesuit HS) we lived in cities all over the South, sort of a preparation for my broadcasting career. I got into radio after a couple years of college, I’ve lived in 15 different places and have been fired nine times – including twice in one day from two different stations. I finally wised up and came back here in ’96, teaming up with Erin (McCarty) on the old Big Dog 94.5, then moved one door down the hall to 96.5 KVKI in 2003. 17 great years and, hopefully, many more to come!
I’m originally from Baton Rouge, but have been in Shreveport for many years. I have two boys (almost grown now). One of them is a US Marine stationed in Hawaii. I’m already planning a visit! My special buddy, Tiger thinks he runs the house. He’s a Boston Terrier who really loves his Mama.
I’m a big fan of reality TV shows, but some of them are getting old. “Big Brother” and “Survivor” are my favorites, but I also like “The Voice” and love to see when locals make it on the show.
Forrest Gump is one of my favorite movies, but I also love the classic “Wizard of Oz”.
In my spare time, I’ll play a little Texas Hold-em on my cell phone. Every now and then, I’ll play in a real poker tournament. I’ve been lucky enough to see some great concerts over the years. My top 5 are Journey, Earth Wind and Fire, N-Sync, Tina Turner and Prince.
Some of my favorite spots in Shreveport and Bossier include The Noble Savage, Twisted Root Burger, Superior Bar and Grill and local festivals. I also love Gilliam when the sunflowers are blooming in early summer. It is well worth the short trip.
