For dog lovers across the ArkLaTex who were anticipating the opening of the city's new park for pups this summer...the wait will last just a bit longer.

Shreveport Public Assembly and Recreation director Shelly Ragle said the work on the park is now scheduled for completion this fall, with delays due to flooding last summer and beyond.

The 5.1 acre facility, located between the Stoner Avenue skate park and the Stoner Avenue boat launch parking area, is requiring extra landscaping due to damage caused by the Red River overflow.

Bids for construction, budgeted at $208,000, are set to go out next week. Total budget for the park is $308,100.
