Matt 'Danger' Schnell, the former Captain Shreve standout and Legacy Flyweight Champion, finally broke through with a big win in a UFC cage. After two previous losses (TKO and KO) in the octagon, Schnell was able to dominate MMA vet Marco Beltran at UFC 216.

The fight went for 3 rounds. Schnell won on all three scorecards 30-27, 29-28, 30-27 to finally earn a victory in the UFC Flyweight division. Hopefully, Matt can find some confidence in the cage and work his way up the rankings to earn a title shot.

In other local MMA news, fellow Shreveport/Bossier fighter Andrea Lee is expected to sign a UFC contract in the near future. Lee was supposed to debut at UFC 216, but due to new regulations regarding drug testing, she won't be able to fight in UFC for at least 6 months.
