A Shreveport police jailer has been arrested following an ongoing criminal investigation.
30-year-old D’xacier L. Hymes 30, was arrested this weekend and he faces charges of aggravated assault with a firearm. Hymes, who was off duty at the time of the alleged incident, is accused of pointing a handgun at another person Friday afternoon while in the 700 block of Hope Street.

Shreveport Police investigators were informed of the allegations and were able to make contact with Hymes at his residence. Following subsequent interviews with Hymes, he was arrested by detectives and booked into the Caddo Correctional Center. Bond in the matter has been set at $2.500.00.

Hymes, who was hired by the department in August of 2018, has been placed on paid departmental leave in accordance with the rules and regulations of the Shreveport Fire and Police Civil Service Board which mandates that: “When an employee is charged with a felony he shall, and if a misdemeanor he may, be immediately relieved of duty and placed on "departmental leave" for up to one week at full pay and with continuing seniority.”
