How cool is this! Jacob Lafitte, who won the local 10-11 year old division at SPAR's Punt, Pass & Kick competition gets to advance and take his skills to New Orleans! That's right, Jacob will get the chance to show off in front of Saints fans on Sunday, December 7th for a chance to go to the National Championships during an NFL playoff game in January 2015.

Here's what Becky Berry from SPAR has to say about Jacob and his accomplishment!

On Sunday, December 7th, Shreveport’s Jacob Lafitte will compete in the NFL’s Punt, Pass & Kick Team Championship in New Orleans during the Saints game for an opportunity to advance to the National Championships during a NFL playoff game in January 2015.

Jacob won the 10 – 11 year old division at SPAR’s Punt, Pass & Kick competition in October advancing to the sectional competition in Monroe.  He also won his age division in Monroe to advance to the next round, the Team Championship, which will be December 7th in New Orleans.

Jacob Lafitte is member of the Colts youth football team.  The Colts won the SPAR youth football 10 year old division this year.  And, the team did not allow any points scored during the 2014 season!  Jacob is the son of Jeff and Sherry Lafitte and is a fifth grader at St. Joseph School.  He competed in last year’s NFL Punt, Pass & Kick competition, winning his age group at the local level and placing 3rd at the regional competition in Monroe.   He is looking forward to seeing the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans.  And, Jacob is just excited to go to the NFL Punt, Pass & Kick competition in New Orleans.

SPAR Assistant Director, Patrick Wesley says, “SPAR is excited to partner with the NFL Punt, Pass & Kick program.  It is great to see young athletes competing and learning the fundamentals of the game while learning good sportsmanship as well.  We at SPAR wish Jacob all the best in New Orleans.”

Punt, Pass and Kick (PPK) is a nationwide program of the National Football League.  PPK is skills competition for boys and girls, ages 6 to 15, to compete in punting, passing and kick against others in their respective age category.  The event is both fun and competitive.  The PPK program is the oldest NFL Youth Football program, established in 1961.  It is one of the largest youth sport participation programs.

SPAR’s 2014 PPK event (held in October 2014) hosted more than 40 children competing for an opportunity to advance to the sectional tournament in Monroe, LA.  Winners of the sectional tournament will advance to the local Team Championship on December 7th.
