A Shreveport man has been charged with murder in the shooting death of a man following a dispute at a west Shreveport home Monday evening.

Just before 5:00 p.m. on February 20, 2017, Shreveport Police were called to a residence in the 7900 block of Trannie Lane in response to a shooting. When officers arrived, they discovered an adult male deceased inside the residence, the apparent victim of multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body.

Cpl. Marcus Hines, spokesman for the SPD, tells us what they learned during the investigation.

Based on preliminary information gathered during a probe of the incident, the victim, a 36 year old man whose name has not been released, was engaged in a verbal dispute with 41-year-old Orlandthefer Cary while inside the residence. At the height of the dispute, it is alleged Cary produced a handgun and shot the victim multiple times. Cary, who was known to the victim, was taken into police custody on scene at the residence, along with a weapon officers suspect was used in the crime. Detectives with the Shreveport Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit interviewed Cary at police headquarters regarding his alleged role in the incident. Following subsequent interviews, Cary was booked into the Shreveport City Jail on a warrant obtained by detectives, charging him with Second Degree murder.

Cary's bond has been set at $500,000.
