The Shreveport Police Department is gearing up to address potential threats a winter storm might bring to the city.

Officers remind you to pay close attention to your neighbors, especially those who might be elderly, as the temperatures hover below freezing. Don't forget about your pets and make sure animals have adequate warmth and shelter.

They also encourage motorists to use extra caution, particularly on bridges and overpasses. If you must go out when roadways may be icy, remember to tailor your driving habits to suit the prevailing conditions. Slow down and allow yourself more time to get where you are going.

If you come across hazardous conditions or know of a neighbor who may be in need of assistance, call SPD immediately at 318-673-BLUE (2583) or, if it's an emergency, 911.
