Louisiana Tech started Friday knowing they had work to do. According to baseball publications like Baseball America, Louisiana Tech would be one of the first handful of teams left outside of the NCAA Baseball Tournament. Who happened to be matched up with Tech this weekend? Southern Mississippi, one of the top teams in the country.

Then it happened.

Down 4-1, Louisiana Tech scored seven runs in the seventh inning to stun 9th ranked Southern Miss, as the Bulldogs pulled out off a 10-6 win over the Golden Eagles.

Tech took advantage of five Southern Miss errors, while Shreveport native, and former Byrd star Steele Netterville had a big day at the plate as he scored three times and had a three-run double in that seven-run, seventh inning.

Netterville is a true freshman for the Diamond Dogs, but has quickly become an important bat in their lineup.

Tech and Southern Miss will continue their series this weekend, which could go a long way for Tech's case to crack the NCAA Tournament...who knows, maybe they'll take LSU's possible spot.
