The Shreveport Mudbugs and their fans started a weekend of voting to determine this year's Kraft Hockeyville winner with high hopes, but the 35-hour online marathon ended with a third place finish in the nationwide contest, not the top spot so many had hoped for.

Kraft Hockeyville, an annual event sponsored by Kraft Foods to award a total of $200,000 to four hockey communities in the USA, wrapped up their website voting Saturday morning, then, during the nationally televised National Hockey League game that afternoon, announced the winner of the $150,000 top prize.

In the end, it was the Clinton Arena, home of the American Hockey League Utica Comets and a building on the National List of Historic Places, that won the six figure cash prize for building renovation. With the third place finish, Kraft will award $10,000 in refurbishing funds for the 'Bugs home, 66-year-old George's Pond at Hirsch Coliseum.
