So far this year, there have been 34 murders in Shreveport. But residents are also concerned about other criminal elements in our neighborhoods. Mayor Ollie Tyler is hosting a community wide event to open a dialogue. She has invited area law enforcement, community leaders, and local citizens for an open and honest discussion about crime and violence in our community. The event, billed as "It's Everyone's Concern" is set for Saturday, October 22nd from 10am-2pm at Southwood High School on Walker Road.

There will be breakout sessions on social media and crime prevention, how to interact with the police, how to resolve conflict, juvenile crime and domestic violence. Several local agencies will be on hand to give out information on services available to local residents.
