We've learned the hard way in north Louisiana that flooding doesn't discriminate. We've personally been witness to friends, family and neighbors and in a lot of instances, ourselves, losing everything to flood waters. Our brothers and sisters in south Louisiana are going through the same right now and they need our help.

Shannon Maxwell, the assistant cheerleading coach at Southwood High School, reached out over the weekend asking for assistance in getting the word out about a fundraiser and supply drive they're hosting for our southern neighbors.

Here's what Shannon has to say:

We have been in touch with shelters and fire stations down south and have a list of needs they are needing. We are planning to leave Thursday with 2 busses, 3 if we are fortunate enough , to take supplies down there and volunteer at the shelters. We are in need of a lot of donations! We will be at Brookshires on Mansfield Road from 3-6:30 pm Wednesday with a bus to take donations. Also we will be accepting donations at the school this week, or people can call us and we will gladly go pick stuff up! Here is a list of donations we know are needed at this time

Snack foods/ canned goods
School supplies

Baby food
