Stan Harris, director of Public Works for the City of Shreveport, will be stepping down after more than three years on the job.

Here's information released by Mayor Ollie Tyler's office:

Harris plans to relocate to join his family in Kansas City, Missouri. Before coming to Shreveport, Harris was the Director of Public Works in Kansas City.

Harris began work as director of Public Works for Shreveport in September 2011. Five divisions are under his supervision. They include Streets and Drainage, Solid Waste, Traffic Engineering, Permits and Inspections, and Fleet Services. The Public Works Department has 345 employees and a $37.5 million budget. His last day will be May 15.

“We want to thank Mr. Harris for the time he has served as director of Public Works,” said Mayor Ollie Tyler.

Mayor Tyler said a national search will be conducted to find a new director.
