States With The Most Discipline Problems

Growing up in Texas, we had a very particular style of discipline enforced.

For almost all of the US, that is no longer the norm.  With corporal punishment becoming more and more forbidden, the question begs to be asked:  how are schools disciplining kids now?  Mostly, it's various levels of detention, suspension, and expulsion.  However, a growing number of disciplinary situations in schools are including an "intercession" from local police.

The good folks at StartClass conducted a survey recently that details where each state ranks when it comes to disciplinary problems.

The worst offender on the list is Illinois.  The boys and girls from the Land of Lincoln have the worst record in the land when it comes to toeing the line in the classroom. Illinois weighed in with these stats:

Percent of Students Arrested: 0.29%

Percent of Students Expelled: 0.21%

Percent of Students with One or More Out-Of-School Suspensions: 8.22%

The most well behaved kids on the list come from New York!  They follow the rules and can whistle a cab out of thin air!  Here's how NY fared:

Percent of Students Arrested: 0.04%

Percent of Students Expelled: 0.14%

Percent of Students with One or More Out-Of-School Suspensions: 4.01%

Our beloved Bayou state clocked in at number 20 on the list.  I chalk it up to a lot of enthusiasm on our younger residents part.  Here's how Louisiana stacked up:

Percent of Students Arrested: 0.13%

Percent of Students Expelled: 0.8%

Percent of Students with One or More Out-Of-School Suspensions: 8.45%
