There have been 25 murders in Shreveport so far this year. We are likely to surpass the numbers from last year when 28 people were murdered. Many of these homicides are in the African American community.

Leaders are looking for ways to curb black on black crime.

Men for Change and Women Against the Social Injustice are teaming up to look for ways to stop the violence. They are putting up billboards that will say: "Stop the Killing: A Movement for Change." The billboards will also include these words: "I am my brother's keeper" and "Changing Today for a Better Tomorrow."

KEEL News spoke with State Senator Greg Tarver who is helping to fund this billboard campaign.

The billboards are going up at the following locations:

1) Greenwood Road and Mertis Avenue
2) Pierre Avenue and Gary Street
3) Martin Luther King Drive and Ice Cream Street
4) Pete Harris Drive and Fannin Street
5) Stoner Avenue and Centenary Boulevard
6) Stoner Avenue and Youree Drive
7) Saint Vincent Avenue and Hollywood Avenue
8) Broadway Avenue and Greenwood Road
9) Linwood Avenue and Hollywood Avenue
10) Mansfield Road and Drexel Street
