Thanksgiving is an American tradition. It's a day for enjoying the company of family and friends, a time to reflect on all of our blessings, and these days, followed by running to stores for a pre-Black Friday frenzy.

In recent years, as Black Friday sales have creeped earlier and earlier, stores are now opening on Thanksgiving. And some people don't like it. After all, who wants to work on Thanksgiving?

Some retailers have decided that is enough is enough - they won't open on Thanksgiving. A few of these include T.J. Maxx, Staples and Barnes and Noble.

"We want our customers and associates to enjoy Thanksgiving their own way," Staples North American President Demos Parneros said in a company statement.

• Sam's Club

• Burlington Stores

• T.J. Maxx

• Marshalls

• Home Goods

• Pier 1 Imports

• Dillards

• DSW
