I love all of the fun programming they put on in downtown Shreveport at the Red River Entertainment District. They host fun events for the community on a regular basis and it would make my heart happy to see the Red River Entertainment District bursting at the seems with happy families!

With that being said, you should probably make plans to go to SummerFest today from noon until 3pm in the RRED with local food trucks, regional stand-up comedians and the Shreveport-Bossier Mavericks! Red River Entertainment tenants Nicky's Mexican Restaurant, Fatty Arbuckles and Fully Stacked will be open and ready for business!

Shreveport, LA – Summer is coming to downtown Shreveport as local food trucks, regional stand-up comedians, and the Shreveport-Bossier Mavericks complete the lineup for SummerFest in the District, a mini family-friendly festival in the Red River Entertainment District (RRED) this Saturday, June 28, from noon until 3:00 PM.

Local food trucks Jester Catering, Lilah’s Bakery, Missing Link, and Grill of the Dead will be on hand to offer attendees a taste of the unique fare available only from the region’s mobile eatery industry. “The community has been asking us to come together for an event at the Red River District for a while now,” said Tina Palmisano, owner of Jester Catering and coordinator of S’port Street Eats, the area’s food truck organization. “We are excited to work with the city and be on hand to give our customers what they want: several of our trucks in one location.”

With something for everyone, SummerFest will present entertainment from local comedians Dother Sykes IV, Glenn Stuart and Tremaile Prelow.  “These guys are a good example of the talented comics located right here in the Shreveport-Bossier area. We are excited for the opportunity to share this brand of family-friendly humor with the folks attending the festival,” says Willie Rushing, promoter and local entertainer.

Entertainment for the kids will round out Saturday’s SummerFest. Inflatable attractions, street performers and face painting will keep children happy, and team members from the Shreveport-Bossier Mavericks will be on hand to shoot some hoops with their youngest fans.

RRED tenants Nicky’s Mexican Restaurant, Fatty Arbuckles, and Fully Stacked will be available for beverages and to offer a place to cool off during and after the event.

Marissa Carbine, event coordinator for the Red River Entertainment District says, “We are thrilled to offer the first of many exciting events scheduled for the district. Organizers have been working to showcase the district as a dynamic place to work, eat and play. We are looking forward to SummerFest as a great way to reintroduce the community to all the Red River Entertainment District has to offer.”
