Sometimes, science hits a home-run.  That's how we got radio, Velcro, GPS, and a bunch of things that make life more awesome.  Unfortunately, science is also gave us nuclear weapons, the ability to work from anywhere, and few other things that I am not a fan of.  Progress is progress, I suppose - I just think some things are fine the way they are.  Take whiskey, for example.  The way we make the delicious brown liquor has remained relatively unchanged for hundreds of years (1494), and I am happy with the results.

That time-honored, traditional way of whiskey making is now being challenged by some  folks in lab coats that think they can Mr. Wizard some of the beloved booze.  Endless West is a company dedicated to the non-traditional production of wine and spirits, and their scienticians say that a batch of synthetic whiskey will be ready for store shelves by the fall of this year!

According to a report from the Verge, this is not the first time this group of drink professors has proposed some lab-created hooch. In 2005, the same company (under the name Ava Wineries) claimed they could accurately reproduce a bottle of Dom Pérignon without grapes or fermentation.

I'll give it a try, but I have my doubts.  Especially because the company's CEO claimed that they were not "Mad Scientists."
