Tim Burton has officially begun production on his live-action version of Dumbo, the most depressing Disney movie of all time. (Okay, maybe that’s up for debate, but this movie wrecked me as a child.) We’ve heard rumors about the cast for a while now, from Colin Farrell to Danny DeVito and Michael Keaton, and they’re all true! The casting news, along with some plot details and an official release date was announced today during Disney’s live-action panel at the D23 Expo.
We knew Always Sunny cast like Danny DeVito might take additional projects over hiatus, but Jeff Goldblum leading an Amazon series? We will definitely, uh, find a way. The once and future Jurassic Park star will lead a new Amazon musician comedy alongside DeVito, featuring the two as “an iconic music duo from the past.”
That Dumbo movie still seems to be, for all intents and purposes, happening, and with Eva Green in talks to star the ball continues to roll. Now, it looks like Danny DeVito — yes, you read that right — might also be heading to the big top.
