I really don't know how to explain to you how these photos have affected me. My oldest son, JW has been in South Carolina for the past 10 weeks going through Marine basic training. I have had no contact with him during these weeks (except for lots of letters) ...

My son is now in the homestretch of his Marine basic training at Parris Island, South Carolina. He sends thanks to all of my friends and listeners who have kept him in your prayers these past couple of months.

I've been getting some great letters from my son over the past few days. In his latest letter he talks about the "infamous obstacles".

My eyes welled up as I saw him sitting with some new buddies at Shreveport Regional Airport. JW was more concerned about me at that point (he hates to see me cry). Then we just talked.

I am so torn about my son's decision to join the Marines. But mostly I am proud. He has been thinking about doing this for a few months and he checked out all of the branches of the military.

Love when teenagers do things that just make you feel so proud......he's gonna kill me for the Santa photo!!

I had a little road trip to Houston over the weekend since my son was listed on the roster for 3 of 4 games for the Dynamo Academy team.

JW's High School Coach, Mike Aguilar is now headed to LSUS to take over the soccer program at the local college.  He has some nice words to say about my son:
