Before you know it, a Shreveport landmark will be gone. Sears is closing the door to its stores at Mall St. Vincent and Pierre Bossier Mall later this year. It's part of a company-wide downsizing for Sears/Kmart.

Our friends at Twin Blends Photography take us down memory lane with this ride on the escalator at Sears in Mall St. Vincent.

As you can tell in the video, liquidation sales have started at the local store. Already some shelves are a little bare. The local stores are expected to close by September.

Sears Holdings announced the closing of more than 40 Sears stores and 15 Kmarts across the country. Company officials said on May 31 they had identified 100 more unprofitable locations they planned to close in the future. They gave no timeline for those closings.

Sears and other retailers have been under pressure from online sales for several years.
