Aggressive driving can not only put you and others in harm's way, it can also cost you a pretty penny.

Getting behind the wheel of a vehicle is risky. You're operating something that can get you from point A to point B, but can also be extremely dangerous if handled carelessly... or aggressively. Aggressive driving can also cost you in added expenses, like more trips to the pump.

According to the app GasBuddy, habits like "speeding, rapid acceleration and braking is the quickest way to waste gas and lower gas mileage by as much as 40 percent." This costs drivers an average of $477 extra a year. That same app has also revealed the states with the most aggressive drivers.

Based on the number of minutes between aggressive driving events (i.e. speeding, hard braking and rapid acceleration), California has the most aggressive drivers with 6.6 minutes.

Their average was staggeringly more frequent than even Connecticut who came in at number two on the list at 8.2 minutes. They were tied with Georgia, followed by Texas with 8.3 minutes. Isn't it weird to think that every 8+ minutes, someone in Texas is slamming on their brakes?

Rounding out the top 10 were North Carolina, New Jersey, Delaware, Florida, Kentucky and Arizona.
