The 2nd Annual Super Safety Saturday is scheduled for Saturday, October 15th.  The Junior League of Shreveport-Bossier, in conjunction with Sheriff's Safety Town and Willis-Knighton Health System, are hosting this event.Super Safety Saturday combines family fun with educational activities to teach kids about a variety of topics from bicycle and internet safety to healthy food choices.  The event will feature a Health & Safety Fair as well as activities including a Bike Race & Fun Run, Bike Rodeo, and a special Touch-A-Truck attraction. In addition, local entertainment and bounce houses will make up a Family Fun Zone. Food vendors will also be on-site.

Admission into Super Safety Saturday is free, however, there is a $5 per person admission fee for the Touch-A-Truck attraction ($20 maximum for a family of 4 or more).  $1 All-You-Can-Jump bounce houses will also be set up in the Family Fun Zone.

Bike Race & Fun Run
The day's activities will kick off with a Bike Race & Fun Run beginning at 9:30 am.  Kids and adults can ride their bikes, walk or run around the Summer Grove Baptist Church parking lot and compete for the best decorated bike, stroller or wagon.  Race forms are available online at www.jlsb.org <http://www.jlsb.org> or The Bike Peddler located at 8309 Line Avenue.  Entry fee for the race is $10 and includes a race t-shirt.

Health & Safety Fair
The Health & Safety Fair will give families the opportunity to learn about water and internet safety, healthy food choices and more.  The first 250 children to visit all of the designated safety areas with their supplied "Pitstop to Safety Pass" will receive a goody bag.

Bike Rodeo
Throughout the day children will have the opportunity to bike or walk through Sheriff's Safety Town alongside Caddo deputies while practicing skills like stopping at intersections, paying attention to traffic signals, and using crosswalks.  Children are encouraged to bring their own bicycle and helmet.

Touch-A-Truck ($5 admission fee)

Vehicles of all kinds will be on display for both kids and adults alike to experience first-hand.  Get an up-close look at emergency vehicles, race cars, motorcycles, a helicopter and more.  The Touch-A-Truck area will be open for a Quiet Hour from 9:30 am to 10:30 am.  During this hour all vehicles and their sirens will remain silent for sensory-sensitive children.

The Junior League of Shreveport-Bossier began its partnership with Sheriff's Safety Town in 2008.  In celebration of its 75th anniversary of serving the community, the Junior League of Shreveport-Bossier donated $75,000 to assist in the construction of this unique educational facility.  The funds were used to construct an outdoor pavilion at the heart of the Safety Town neighborhood.
