Wow! I know last night’s ACM awards broke the record for attendance at an award show with just over 70,000, but they had to have broken a record on Facebook and Twitter. With the show right down the road in Arlington, TX, I was amazed at how many people I knew who were there! Despite last night’s storms, my Facebook feed was a solid wall of nothing but the ACMs… I even saw a comment about how someone was glad the power didn’t go out so they could continue watching. Sometimes, you just have to shake your head!

We’ve got the full list of winners here, but here are the highlights and a few of my favorite moments!

Entertainer of the Year: Luke Bryan
Top Male Vocalist: Jason Aldean
Top Female Vocalist: Miranda Lambert
Top Vocal Group: Little Big Town
Top Vocal Duo: Florida Georgia Line
Top New Artist: Cole Swindell

Taylor Swift was back last night and they had her mother present her with the Milestone Award and Taylor thanked the country music community for gracefully allowing her to go pop. (Taylor is going to kick off her pop tour 1989 right here in Bossier City at the CenturyLink Center next month on May 20th! Keep listening because even though the show is sold out, we’ve got your tickets!)

Garth Brooks also received a Milestone Award and it was presented by American Sniper Chris Kyle’s widow and Nancy O’Dell. Garth then performed All-American Kid and was joined by active military service members.

Other Milestone Award winners were Brooks & Dunn, Reba McEntire, Kenny Chesney, George Strait and Miranda Lambert.

My favorite moment of the night was Lee Brice with his amazing tribute/performance of Randy Travis’ Forever and Ever, Amen. Randy made a rare appearance at the event and Lee made sure to point him out.

Whoa! Tim McGraw is still getting heat from gun-rights activists because of his Sandy Hook benefit concert. Chase Bryant is still performing with him, but Billy Currington has backed out because he doesn’t like the controversy. I understand he doesn’t want to take a political stance, but some events aren’t about politics. They’re about healing.

Here’s one little skinny blonde brat I’d like to smack… Britt McHenry from ESPN. She’s the one who verbally attacked a tow company employee… on video. She got a week’s suspension from ESPN, but other employees are talking… anonymously of course… saying she should have been suspended for longer, that Britt’s ‘the worst,’ and that ESPN could find a million other Britt McHenrys to replace her. Sounds like she’s well liked by her peers! Here’s the video in case you missed it the first time.
