This "Bachelorette" Finale bothers me to the core. How can Desiree Hartsock express her "undying love" for Brooks Forester during last weeks' episode, but accept Chris' proposal during the big finale?

SHE ACCEPTS THE RING

Chris Siegfried got down on one knee and proposed marriage and she accepted. He told her "I want us to grow old together".  He's a mortgage broker who lives in Seattle. Des is planning to move to Washington this weekend where they will move in together. So how did she have such a dramatic change of heart? She said “Chris has been by her side from the very beginning—for that am I so grateful,” Des told him. “You mean the absolute world. Chris, I love you. I love you so much.”Forester’s sudden departure last week.

CHANGE OF HEART

Last week Des was devastated when Brooks told her he did not fully love her and she told host Chris Harrison: “I just want to go home, to be honest,” I don’t have a clue what I’m going to do.” She did agree to have a rose ceremony to explain to a Chris and Drew Kenney what happened with Brooks. Des sent Drew home in the middle of their big finale date leaving Chris as the only man standing. Before he proposed she did tell him more about her relationship with Brooks: “I want to be perfectly honest with you and explain where my heart has been this entire journey and where it is today,” she said. “I was torn apart by Brooks leaving. I loved him. I feel like I was so blindsided by my feelings for Brooks that the one thing I always needed was right in front of me.”
