I get up at 4am every day and spend 30-45 minutes in the gym every day, just so I don't GAIN any more weight. Now I find that the Norwegians have figured out that you only need 12 minutes of exercise a week to stay healthy. I am not sure if I am saddened by my extra work or irritated.

In the study, they had people work out as intensely as possible for four minutes. That means sprinting on a treadmill or doing something else vigorously. When people did it three times a week, it significantly helped their health.

They didn't compare those people's health to people who exercise for longer, but they suggested that just 12 minutes of intense exercise might be as good.

The researchers say, quote, "This data suggests it may be possible to reduce cardiovascular mortality with substantially less exercise than is generally recommended, provided it is performed in a vigorous manner."
