The New Orleans Pelicans Make an NBA Draft Move

The New Orleans Pelicans surprised the entire NBA during the All-Star Break last season, but swinging a deal for All-Star DeMarcus Cousins. They paired the big man with franchise player Anthony Davis to make a run for the playoffs last year. But the hole they were trying to dig out of was just too deep.

Heading into this year's NBA Draft, the Pels started paying their penalty for that Cousins deal when they didn't have a first round pick. But as the Draft rolled through the first round, they noticed a player they identified as a need was falling, and when the time was right, they pulled the trigger to trade up and take him.

Now with one of the best big man pairs in the NBA, and the point guard they've handpicked, the team looks to be building something special.

"The New Orleans Pelicans traded up in the NBA Draft on Thursday night to select Duke guard Frank Jackson with the No. 31 pick. The Pels decided to trade the 52nd overall pick to the Pacers in exchange for cash considerations. Now the question is what’s to come with Jrue Holiday contract talks as the start of free agency begins in July."
