The Shreveport Parks And Recreation Department Announces Upcoming December 2013 Events

The folks at SPAR (Shreveport Parks and Recreation) sure do stay busy! Check out the events still to come this month (December 2013) that you and your family can get involved with! (Most of them for free!)

Shreveport Public Assembly and Recreation (City of Shreveport) announces the following upcoming events:

• On Tuesday, December 17^th, SPAR Therapeutic Division is hosting the 16^th Annual Holiday Dance at Riverview Hall from 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM.  There will be music, door prizes and refreshments.  This holiday dance is open to individuals of all ages with disabilities. • On Friday, December 20^th, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, Valencia Park Community Center (1800 Viking Drive) is hosting a Christmas Party for Kids with toy give-away (ages 2 to 12 years old only).  The party is sponsored by Northern Louisiana Chapter of the National Medical Association and Valencia Park Community Center.  The party is free and open to the public.  For more information, contact Shalon Lewis at 318-673-6433.

• On Friday, December 20^th, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Holiday Under the Bridge presents Airheart in concert.  This is a free concert for the entire family.  There will be live music, lights, Santa’s Workshop, shopping and food.  Come on down to the Red River District and celebrate the season!

• On Saturday, December 21^st, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Holiday Under the Bridge presents AJ & the Two Tones Blues Band in concert.  This is a free concert for the entire family.  There will be live music, lights, Santa’s Workshop, shopping and food.  Come on down to the Red River District and celebrate the season!

• Beginning Monday, December 23^rd, 2013, SPAR’s Winter Camp opens at all of our community centers.  The 2013 Winter Camp is from December 23^rd through January 3^rd, 8 AM to 6 PM daily.  SPAR offers winter playground for children ages 6 to 11 and Teen Winter Camp for teens ages 12 to 17.  The camps are free to the public, however, registration is required.  Registration forms are available at each of SPAR’s community centers.  A listing of centers is available at myspar.org.
