The SWAC has announced their conference football championship game for this year will be played at the school with the highest ranking. The game will take place on December 1st at 3:30pm. T

he game was scheduled to be played at Legion Field in Birmingham, however SWAC Commissioner Charles McClelland says they made this decision because there’s the possibility UAB will host the Conference USA title game at Legion Field that same day.

With a month left in the season, Southern leads the SWAC’s western division with a 4-1 record, while Grambling is 4-2 in conference, putting both in play to host the game. In the eastern division, Alcorn State is 6-1.

None of the SWAC teams currently appear in the FCS Coaches Poll Top 25, including the "also receiving votes" section.

The SWAC Championship game was actually set to be discontinued after last year's contest, but was brought back this year on the eve of SWAC media day.
