Three Women Shot in Houston Taco Stand Holdup

Three women have been shot _ one of them five times _ by what Houston police say is a group of men trying to rob taco stands. Authorities say the first of two attempted robberies Saturday night left a mother and daughter wounded when the men approached their taco truck, demanded money and then opened fire before they could turn over any cash.

A Houston TV station reports the mother tried to shield her daughter and both were wounded by the same bullet. Then three blocks away, another woman suffered five gunshot wounds during a similar confrontation and police believe the same men are responsible. The mother and daughter have been hospitalized and have been talking with investigators. The third woman shot is hospitalized in serious condition.
