In a feat the can only be described as a television miracle,Timeless has been revived from the dead for the second time in a row.

After canceling the time-travel series in June, NBC announced on Tuesday (July 31) that they'll wrap up the show with a two-part finale set to air during the holidays later this year. This is the second time since its premiere that Timeless has pulled off such a triumph: It was previously axed after its first season only to, shortly afterward, get renewed for a second run.

The news should come as a relief to cast and crew, both of whom, in the wake of Timeless' cancellation, campaigned heavily for a two-hour movie to tie up loose ends. Deadline previously reported that NBC and Sony were in talks to make the film happen, but had yet to reach a deal, while Sony was having no luck setting up the series at another network. Apparently, they've since worked things out.

"While we wish we could’ve made another dozen seasons of Timeless, this is the next best thing,” creators Shawn Ryan and Eric Kripke said in a statement. “We’re thrilled to take the Lifeboat out for one last spin and bring closure to our story. The studio, network, cast, and crew are all doing this for one reason only: the fans. Because they deserve it. Because the fans made this happen and we thank them for their passion, support, and helicopters. So? You guys want to get Rufus back or what?”
