Trump Has Large Lead In Louisiana Primary Poll

Donald Trump, coming off this week's Super Tuesday wins, is a heavy favorite in Saturday's Louisiana's GOP Presidential primary.

The University of New Orleans poll showed that 38 percent of likely voters favored the Republican front-runner..

Sen. Ted Cruz was in second spot with 26 percent and Sen. Marco Rubio was third at 11 percent. Ohio Gov. John Kasich was next with 5 percent.

The UNO poll, conducted by telephone, had slightly more that 1,800 responses.

Polls for Saturday's primary will be open across the state from 7am til 8pm. It is a "closed" primary, meaning voters registered with a specific party will be ably to vote only for that party's candidates. Voters registered as "independent" or with a third party are not eligible to take part.
