A couple of house fires kept Shreveport firefighters busy overnight.

The first was reported just before 12:30 a.m. in the 2800 block of Desoto Street. Crews arrived to find a one-story wood-frame home with smoke coming from the side. It took less than 10 minutes to extinguish the flames.

The occupants weren't home at the time, and no injuries have been reported. The home sustained minor damage. The cause of the fire was determined to be a window AC unit.

The second fire was reported just before 4:45 a.m. in the 8000 block of Grant Berry Place. Crews saw flames under the carport, and located the fire in the utility room. They had things under control within 15 minutes.

The home's occupant was able to get out uninjured before firefighters arrived. Investigators say the fire appears to be electrical in nature, and is still under investigation.
